Lets talk about stable matting… most of us have matting in our stables, maybe half a stable or the full area and most likely it’s black.. oh and not to mention HEAVY !! I have always had matting in my horses stables and it’s always been the traditional black rubber matting, however when cleaning my horses stables and attempting to move the matts it became an instant dreaded task due to the weight of them. An average rubber stable matt weighs 40kg , however due to these matts being made from Eva foam they only weigh approximately 7.5kg which is a huge difference to the 40kg, which is something that drew me towards them. Despite them being super lightweight they’re still super durable. They’re made from Ethylene Vinyl Acetate Copolymer, and also feature a raised bottom which helps with drainage.

When we decided to move Josephine onto a new yard we knew we needed matting for her stable. Perry Equestrian do also do traditional rubber matting, however Jo’s colour scheme is pink so of course I had to go with the pink eva foam matts !!

When putting down your matting do be sure to leave at least 2 inches around the perimeter, as I found within a week mine expanded quite a bit. Therefor if you don’t leave a gap around the edge your matting will start lifting. The Jigsaw design Eva foam matting is also brilliant for reducing fatigue on horses legs and provides cushioning. For Josephine who’s routine is that she spends a lot of time stabled, these matts are brilliant as I know she’s stood on a soft supportive ground.
